Keep UnStuck Without Blowing Your Budget

Most of the time when you buy a 4x4 vehicle from a dealer, it is usually fitted with All Purpose 4x4 tires. They can also be called street tires. These tires do great on the highways, they're quiet and smooth, but taking them off-road can damage the tires and not to mention, get you stuck. That’s where 4x4 truck tires come into the picture – with authority.

If the time comes for a complete tire overhaul and you’re wondering what size tires can I put on my truck, go to a tire shop and ask about tires and wheel packages discounts. You should know what you are looking for so you won't be talked into something more expensive. Most tires and wheels these days are of a good quality, but some are better than others.

For off-road, ATV mud tires like the mud king tires are some of the most popular chosen tires in the market. Because they are made tougher and taller than regular tires, they are less likely to be punctured and have a higher ground clearance. Also, because ATV mud tires are made wider, they are able to grip and find traction on the ground better than other tires. They have a open tread design that allows the lugs to grip and adhere to the surface it's on.

Cheap mud tires are definitely the ultimate kind of tire an off-roader would not only want, but need. These kinds of tires not only do great on mud, but they have a wide and open tread design like the Yokohama Geolander tires and some Dunlop ATV tires that allows them to hook itself over rocks and wild terrain. This allows the person to experience and go down roads that their normal cars and tires will never see. For more intense action, you may want to consider ATV tire chains.

Basically there are three different kinds of ATV tire chains. The most popular is the V-Bar chain that is usually sold with a 2-link spacing between the cross chains. This allows for more chain on the tire and can give a smooth ride and better steering. A 4-link spacing chain is also available. V-Bar chains are great for hills and ice and slippery hard-packed surfaces. They are easy to install and give great traction, but are not recommended for mud tires or tires with deep lugs. All terrain chains with D-shaped square links are even easier to install.

On another type of terrain, as it may seem like a daunting task to install tractor tire chains, the job can be easily done in just a few simple steps. Assuming that you already have the proper tractor tire chains available and ready to be installed, the job should not take very long to complete. It will often be much easier to install the chains before starting out in the field or garden to prevent getting stuck in the first place.

For long distance travel, commercial truck tires need to be built for very slow tread wear. Because minimal turning and stopping occur, the focus is placed on optimized wear resistance, ground pressure distribution, and rolling resistance. The lighter the tire weight, the more load capacity like some Michelin truck tires. Some companies are actually choosing a single "super" tire to replace duals for the very purpose of increasing the
weight of the load they can transport.

When looking at used truck tires or more specifically semi truck tires for sale, make sure you examine the tread. Too worn in the middle means they were driven on while over inflated. Too worn on the sides means they under inflated. Too worn on just one side could mean they didn’t have a proper tire alignment. You don't want tires with cracks in the side walls either.

In terms of truck tire chains, once you have attached the chains to your truck, you will want to remember that you still must maintain the road at a lower rate of speed than usual. You will need to check the chain's owner's manual to find out the recommended speed, which you should abide to. In most cases, you will find that the speed is between 20 and 30 miles per hour max., maybe less if your running on cheap truck tires.
