Used Truck Tires

Know What You're Looking For When Buying Used Truck Tires

Tires are one of the many things that people have to maintain and purchase every so often to ensure optimum safety of the driver and passengers and the quality of driving. No car can go anywhere without tires. So, when buying tires, it should be just as important as buying a new car. A lot of thought needs to go into it and decisions made appropriately. Unfortunately buying new tires for any vehicle, whether it is a car, an SUV, a bus, a plane - new tires are expensive.

There is no difference for trucks either. Trucks are a common vehicle seen in the United States, especially in rural areas, mountainous and snowy states. And with the way the economy is today, people are looking for ways to cut their expenses but still have the things they need. If you're a truck owner and driver, buying cheap truck tires, or even used truck tires is one of the ways you can save money and yet still have the benefits of having good quality and long lasting tires. "How?" do you say? Or even, what size tires can I put on my truck? Well, let's learn a little about them.

When looking to purchase used truck tires, it is important to know what you are looking for. For example, the size, the measurements of the tire (including the sidewall), your primary use for them and why you need them. Truck tires such as Goodyear Wrangler tires are usually bigger and stronger than car tires. See something like Big O tire prices for comparison. A lot of used truck tires come from 4x4’s so tread designs, size and uses are all factors that need to be looked at when buying.

A lot about the tread itself can tell you about how it was used. You want to make sure that there are no cracks in the sidewall of the tire and look at how the tread is worn. Used truck tires get worn down obviously because they were previously driven on. If they're worn on only one side of the tire, most likely this was caused by them being driven without proper alignment. Be wary, because even though you may be saving money now, you don't want to be putting more out in the long run.

A step up from used truck tires are what's called retreaded tires. These are used tires that are then retreaded to serve just like new tires. They are cheaper than new tires but a little more prized than used. They are great because they work just as good as new ones and last just about as long. They are also more environmentally friendly and take less petroleum to make. Whatever used truck tires you pick, choose with wisdom and maintain them like you would new truck tires.
